Does anyone have advice for someone switching from Army Guard to active duty?

How was the transition? Do the active guys looke at you differently? Was it a long wait to get a report date? If you have dependent a how was the move on your family especially the spouse? Is it worth the switch?

I've been in the guard my whole career, so I cant speak on the transition. However, I attended ALC at Ft Sill, where I was the only national guard soldier in a class of twenty or so. I did experience a bit of tension, I guess. But, after the first week or two, that all went away. Once they see that you know your job and you can give back all the crap that they give you, it will be smooth sailing.

The only difference between the guard and AD is our 9-5s. With that being said pursue your goals and keep your head high sergeant!
