All Service Members take an oath upon their enlistment/commissioning. What part or parts of your oath speak to you

Describe the oath that you took how you implement that in every day life. What parts of the oath are most important to you? Also include the oath that you took if you work for another agency after the military, are a member of a fraternal organization, etc

The Oath of Commissioned Officer has a part that states,"That I take this obligation freely". I took the challenge upon myself to serve this country. I wasn't forced at gun point or pressured to serve. If anything, I may have been ridiculed for even enlisting by some people at home. It was my decision to join and eventually mine to move up the ladder and get a commission. I've always been big on improvement and success to make it as far as Uncle Sam would allow me to go.

great thought, CPT Swartout. This, too, is very important to me. Taking this oath freely and with presence of mind to weigh the options, not being forced or coerced into signing a contract you don't agree with...and signing that contract for service to the nation and possibly to die(or save another's life) while defending the Constitution of the USA. I can't think of any higher calling realistically or philosophically. Obviously, not every action taken militarily is directly defending the Constitution but we are attempting to uphold the same standards and philosophies as are set forth in the declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
