Okay RP its time for community mentorship, list your top 3 things that you advice your subordinates and colleagues.
I will lead from the front with the following:
1. Every day when you put the uniform on perform at your best. You have one shoot at making an impression on your leaders and subordinates it all starts with the attitude you bring to work. Always ask yourself have I inspired anyone to be a better version of themselves?
2. Don’t take opportunities for granted i.e. Schools, time off, tuition assistance and most important leadership positions. Those are a privilege not a right you owe your subordinates the best care possible.
3. Always have a plan as if you were staying 20 years or ETS. Never place all your eggs in one basket stay ahead of your peers by doing those things that other wont do i.e. hard assignments, details (recruiting, Drill Sergeant etc) college, save your money invest on things that won't loose their value. Prevent getting the new car with the new rims and sound system.

Senior Cardenas: Great question! Here is my two cents. I think this has two elements to it. I think as a Soldier it would be inherently different. So I will donate my two pennies on this through the eyes of an NCO.
1. Remember your role as oulined in AR 600-20 para. 2-18.
2. Provide the mentorship to someone two pay grades or levels of responsibility below...Daily.
3. Have a long term goal. Thus explained: Have you ever had a Soldier and you asked that Soldier "What is your Short Term Goal"? You either get (a). I dont know or (b) it changes daily. The root cause of this is not having something at the end to work towards. You cant build a house from the roof down with out having a solid foundation. Thats just me
