So long as you are MOS qualified, you should be promotable.
Question is, did the item that caused the clearance to be denied have other ramifications? Most that I can think of do.

As far as I was told it was my credit report and some should not have been on there in the first place. I have taken action to clear these debts off my record. The way the economy is and my job not giving me any hours it's hard to make my bills let alone the debt I owe.

SSG (Join to see) - This is correctable with time and discipline. When you next do an EQIP, make sure that you disclose the nature and disposition of these debts and you should be able to attain a clearance again.
Good luck.

Too add to the wisdom already imparted here, if you intend on making a career out of the military, you will most certainly require at least a secret. There was talk about requiring that for SFC, but I don't know if that is the reality yet or not. There are units that require a Secret or higher, regardless of MOS, to be a condition of your billet in that unit.

BLUF: Find out what you need to do to correct the reasons for your denial, and try again in a few years. KEEP ALL YOUR RECORDS FROM THIS APPLICATION!!! Having that info at hand (such as residential history) will be very useful

It is as long as the clearance is not needed for the higher rank.
