Why should i loos the promotion points for SSD1?

Each month the Army determines how many SGTs they need in a particular MOS, if it's 10, then it's the 10 with the most points - that's how the semi-centralized promotion system works.
Since SSD-1 is a requirement for promotion to SGT, everyone has SSD-1. If we take away 16 points from every single person, it won't change the order of folks from highest to lowest points.
A lot of folks are getting quite emotional about the loss of these points, but it doesn't affect anyone at all.
In fact, it gives you the opportunity to get 16 more points in a way that may take a little more effort (which means some won't) and you may be able to put some distance between you and the next person and move in front of the person in front of you.

2: SSD-1 points are being removed Army-wide. why should an exception to policy or grandfathering be warranted?
From a personal standpoint: should I be viewed as less if i completed WLC in a time where SSD-1 was not a requirement and self-enrollment for SSD-1 ended quite a while ago? If the answer were no, why should there be grandfathering at all?

Making it Army wide is a real solution? what about the people that got promoted using the pointes from SSD1?
Why can't it just be for people that joined after big Army made the decision about it?

When SSD-1 was new and to have completed it set you apart; vs: it is now a requirement to attend a course to validate your promotion. If everyone is to have completed it, it doesn't set you apart anymore.
I would hope one would not stop trying to learn new things simply because they were promoted or, maxed out that portion of their PPW.

The SSD was only worth 16 points. As your points are maxed out for promotion, I would not consider this a significant portion of the points you need toward the next rank. With the Army changing the process, and the 16 points no longer relevant, I would recommend you look toward other area that you can maximize your point schedule.
If I remember correctly, you can only earn 800 points total; so ensure all other areas, to include civilian education, are maxed and you will set yourself up nicely for when the points drop later on.
