Last drill myself and about 50 other joes were informed by SGM that we were being sent to line units from HHC. Is that even possible?

Yes and I think it is a great thing! Line units teach Soldiers discipline and the fundamentals of Soldiering and leadership. I have ran into a few Soldiers throughout my career who for lack of better terms "were ruined" after being placed in an HHC early on in their careers. They weren't offered the basic leadership structure that young Soldiers need and they then lacked the discipline that was expected of them.

Great response CSM (Join to see)! I agree, it is only a force multiplier to have the experience from being assigned to an HHC Unit and then moving to a line unit or visa versa. If I was SPC (Join to see), I would welcome the transfer.

I agree with MSG, there are benefits to going to lower levels. I wasn't Army but I fill billets in Army and Marine TOCs/ROCs and BISES across Afghanistan. Seeing my company CLICs in action then watching the equivalent position perform at DIV everyone plays an important part in getting the mission done. Just because some one is placed above you in the chain doesn't mean they are more experienced than you. At th lower levels you are closer to the action and will get more technical experience. I was never infantry but I've spent 4 or the past 5 years with brigade and battalion size elements down range. I'm better off for it. I do believe it's why I still have a job now. My capacity to handle what a lot of civilians won't has helped me survive when funding and jobs are getting cut. For me it was a graduating experience. Every time I moved up I felt it like a promotion. But I prefer to be away from the flag pole. I've never been so humbled in my life.

I completely agree MSG, as a medic I have done both HHC and line assignments, I have never learned so much as when I was in a line company. With that being said I had awesome leadership who used to tell me I needed to learn skills other than my medic ones and I participated in every class they had in the field (Ex. 50 cal, 249). My leadership used to tell me they know the Geneva Conventions but if all else fails am I going to be a victim or the victor to make it home

Yes it is possible and depending on your MOS it's possible the best thing for your career. Why would you as an infantryman want to stay in HHC

I hate HHC. I'm in it now but I'm a mortarman so HHC means I'm using 81mm. If I can go to the line I use 60mm

Wait I think I I miss understood your question, I thought you were in HHC and didn't want to move to a line company. Sorry Blohm. You'd have to talk to your chain of command and figure out why they moved you and most likelly do you time in the suck and go back to the line. Depending on what they have you doing it can be either a great learning experience or really suck. What I mean by that is if you have a open mind and learn, HHC is were the planning and ops stuff happens, you'll understand better they way things are run at a Batt. level and be a better leader for it Or you can go in with a baf attitude and be put on all rhe shit details. Good luck.
