The navy has recently changed the advancement system to weigh the exam more heavily for those advancing from e-3 to e-4 and for e-4's to e-5's. And weighing heavier for performance for those advancing to e-6 and to chief petty officer. How does everyone feel about these new changes to the weight of our evaluation?

I have to say that you should earn your promotions not just get a promotion based on a test grade or time in service. Performance of ones duties should be considered a factor to weed out those who really don't give a crap and instead would rater skate into their promotion. I know back when I was in it took me 3 years to get E-4 and I worked my tail off for it. I was considering taking the E-5 exam when I had to muster out due to health problems. I miss my time and wish I could rejoin even as a E-1. Because every day you learn something new and each day is another day to contribute to your Nation. But that is this broken down corpsman's opinion and I know it most likely would not be popular either.

I honestly still do now know how I feel about it. I was happy with the way it was. I'm a good performer; but how much does it take TIR in to account? That should be given some weight due to experience. Performance and experience are both very important factors, I believe.
