When will we be allowed to carry a personal weapon on post?

I thought they were supposed to start proposing plans to allow the carry of personal weapons on post.

Air Force wise it is at commander's discretion. Some bases came up with ideas on how to safely increase the number of armed individuals however I don't know if they implemented any. Col Benson who used to be here and is now Wing Commander at Dyess AFB did implement a policy allowing people to concealed carry in vehicles on base which is nice for those who live off base and thus have to travel through possibly(probably) unprotected areas to get to work and back. I wish at least that would be pushed for all bases.

I like the idea of concealed weapons in vehicles since I'm used to having a pistol in my glove box and can't do that when I'm on post

SPC (Join to see) - yeah if in a group all of us turn. pisses the other NCO's off. lol I usually try and get them stuttering, " you calling me by name or rank Private?" um um um um "Rank?" ME "Good answers" usually smiling. Can't hold a straight face. That's why I don't play poker!

We are but well no one wants to be the first to do it. Who knows who and where to draw the line is a big question.

PO1 Roger Waddle - who can carry what when where and why who can authorize who to go where with what there are a lot of questions about how to do it and there are many that don't want it at all and well no one wants to be the first to do it. Once someone does do something I suspect that many installations will use that as a template for there installation. No one wants to be first or have the liability. We have a hard time accepting change look at the whole rolling up of the sleeves thing.

SSG (Join to see) - There really is little liability involved. All the bases would need to do is defer to state law for concealed carry. Current regulations requiring soldiers in the barracks to store firearms would still apply and a simple memorandum could reiterate that only government issued weapons can be carried while on duty. As it stands, most bases allow you to have a weapon post but they just require asinine things such as storing the weapon and ammo seperate in the vehicle, so it's not like the bases prohibit someone from possessing a gun.

SPC Paul Jennings, J.D. - The CG could however it is not that simple sorry I wish that it was. There is also a big difference in having a weapon in your house and carrying a loaded weapon. There are currently many more restrictions then you had mentioned in your post. They could and I hope that soon they will allow some form of concealed carry on base.
