Sounds like you know you screwed up and you are looking for an excuse to avoid the consequences for your screw up. The short answer is yes. So suck it up and learn from it.

If I ask a senior NCO gave SM corrective training w/o a counseling statement, I would say I was giving the SM a chance. Counseling statements stay on file for up to a year, are to be considered for both Positive and negative personal actions. So a statement could stop school slots, promotion, awards,etc.. If SM fails to do CT, then I would add Failure to follow orders to original sin. SM would then have the choice between Article 15 or court-martial. When I retired Article 15 was a career/retention stopper. Note barracks lawyers don't last long in the service.

The OP is vague (I'm guessing by design), as others have stated, and needs a bit more substance to assist in providing an answer. SSG Garry Livesay, the trouble with message boards and interwebs, is that it is hard to determine sarcasm and intent of the typed word. NCOs are human too (just don't tell anyone, ok? /s), we have been, and will be wrong at times. The trick is, realizing/admitting to it, correcting the error (if applicable), and learning from it so it doesn't become a pattern. Upvoted you based on my perception as you meant it for humor.

SGM (Join to see) - I don't have a dog in this fight but I just have to comment how unexpectedly awesome it was to see a retired SGM use the term 'interwebs.' If I ever run into you, Sergeant Major, I'm buying you a beer.
