I came on here looking for a military forum where military issues were discussed and service members from all branches could ask questions.

It's looking more and more like Facebook with the YouTube links to humor videos and political "propaganda" which has me curious.

Why are you here?

Like any other forum, you're going to have people that believe they can change people's minds regarding politics. The benefit of being here is most all of us have a Military view on all topics.

I wish they would get rid of this asinine points system. Some people are obviously posting shit just to be "one of the cool kids".

CW2 (Join to see) Chief it's what you make of it.
I've responded to 4 questions today (well 5 with this one), all military, current service members.
If all you see is Facebook with the YouTube links to humor videos and political "propaganda" you're not looking with eyes wide open.

CW2 (Join to see) - Chief your observations are not wrong ... like any site, users have to be willing to scroll past what they are not interested in participation in. And yes, it's more of a pain on a phone.
Your observations is the primary reason admins work so hard at leading members to use tags and groups appropriately, editing where needed, converting non questions to updates or shared links.
Otherwise a user's feed is filled with masses of stuff they have no interest in.

CW2 (Join to see) - Hi Chief. What you see on your feed is not only a result of the people you are connected with and the groups you follow, but also what and whom you engage with. For example, if you don't follow Politics, but engage with posts that are about Politics, you are still going to see political posts on your feed. I make a point to not comment or vote on the kinds of content I don't want in my feed and my home page is mostly relevant (although not perfect).

SSG Carlos Madden - GREAT point, that begs the question, what is the refresh/purge timeline for content to fall off your feed?
IOW, if I comment on a political post today,..but never again, how long before that tagged content no longer shows up in my feed? I'll assume there is a cycle to the feed...errrr..feed.

SGM Erik Marquez - Good question. I think it has more to do with how many other things you engage with in relation to that one post rather than timeline. IOW, if you engaged in politics once but never did again, when you come back in 6 months, you're probably going to see recent politics in your feed. However, if you engage in politics once, and then spend the rest of the day creating a thousand posts in other areas, you'll probably won't see to much about Trump the next time you log in.

CW2 (Join to see), I enjoy connecting with all of the RP members. They all have something important to them, to write about. If I'm not interested, I move on. Why are you still here if you're not satisfied?

I see the parts that I'm interested in still here so I guess I have hope. That and the lack of a better military forum with distinct categories.

CW2 (Join to see), I might suggest you come up with some topics of interest to you. There's so many RP members that enjoy a variety of threads. Sometimes it's all about the miitary, but after a while that gets boring, so a little bit of humor, or other threads break the monotony. Welcome to Rally Point.
