What branch would be a better transition, also I want to go officer later once I'm back in, any advise would be appreciated.

It really depends on what you want to do. Also, I have concerns about your desire to become an officer. Why wait until you're back in? Commissioning programs for active duty personnel are extremely competitive. If you have your degree or are close to finishing it, I'd recommend NROTC or OCS. The LDO and STA-21 programs are almost impossible to pick up. TA and online courses can take a long time. You must also look into the age requirements and waiver eligibility. What you want to do as an Officer is another important question.

I have my degree already, I tried getting in first for OCS for the Airforce but I didn't have time to get everything needed for the board in 2 weeks.

Best advice I can give you: PLEASE check out the United States Coast Guard. IF you are in a location where there is a USCG Reserve training unit and you can get in, the rewards, tangible and intangible, are beyond your current imagination, IF you have not completely LIMITED yourself to the USAF or the USN.

How so? Also last time I checked the USCG was deployed all the time? Or has that changed?
