I see alot of stories that reflect on the good and the funny and motivating. I'd like to know from the masses whats the most disappointing thing you've experienced while in boots.

Within the scope of my experience the heightened celebration of appearance above skill.

Honestly, I'm going to say it even though it's unpopular:

The sheer amount of stupid people I have to work with/for over the course of my career.

Generally that is the brass tacks of a lot of issues in the Army. Stupid people making stupid decisions and refusing to hear other opinions or ideas.

SFC Jones,

I'm trying to figure out how to like give you additional thumbs up for this comment. One is not enough...

V/R,
SGT Mullet

PS - With the issue of refusing to hear other opinions or ideas... particularly detrimental in our CMF...

SGT Nathanael Mullet you can't be more correct. It's horrendous how many people are so quick to put others down if it's not their own idea. A leadership book I read once told me: "You don't have to be the best at everything. You just need to surround yourself with the best."

I wish more people took that to heart. I fully admit that PFC Snuffy might have a better way to tackle a problem than me. And it doesn't hurt my feelings at all to admit that.

I was going to say the same thing but I think you summed it up well.

The single thing that disappointed me the most was seeing the military used as political pawns. It's happened throughout history (and with both major political parties I might add) and I'm sure it will continue far into the future but it always gets deep into my crawl.
