21 years old to be a truck driver, but 18 to be a Soldier? What age makes sense?

To drive a semi tractor trailer over the road in the US you have to be older than 21.The stress our soldiers go through is equivalent to or more dangerous than truck driving. What's your thoughts?

If you can join the military at 18 and we all consider you an adult at 18 then you should be allowed to do anything any adult can do at that point.

Soldiers are provided supervision. Truckers aren't. I can't say that there's any scientific backing for picking 18 and 21 as the magic numbers, but there is SOME logic behind it.

I'm sure it has to do with insurance and maybe supervision levels. The Army is able to provide supervision as needed where as a commercial driver may just be told to get in their rig and fly solo. Insurance wise I don't know how it plays out but being as the cost of mine dropped when I turned 21 I have to think its a factor somehoe
