War fighters, take a look at the new Army times article that just came out. The Guard and Reserve are opening up 3400 new warrant slots. I guarantee you that anyone on here, taking part in the discussion, being a member of the community, and offering advice and assistance in any facet, should definitely consider applying.

NCOs, junior enlisted, etc...start your packets. Inquire, as this is a tremendous opportunity for you to become part of the officer corps and also a chance to become technically and tactically proficient in your MOS. Subject matter expert.

The Army does not want me as a warrant officer because I got tattoos on my arms and legs

This PC tattoo policy has got to go. No joke, not in the least. Get rid of it, and get rid of it fast. I have 14 tattoos, and there is absolutely no reflection on my character of performance or bearing on my abilities as an NCO. Never affected me as a Spec 4 either.

Having a Staff or Field grade officer assisting your case will work wonders for you.

I am thinking about submitting a packet regardless of tattoos, especially since they are so short in my mos

I know that in today's society this is not a popular opinion, but visible tattoos have no place on a professional Soldier. I'm okay with limited tattoos, but when you have a neck tattoo and you wonder why you are not promoted, look in the mirror. The sad reality is that because of tattoos the population of young Americans qualified for military service is very low. If the military started catering to fads, we would need to throw out or constantly re-write our appearance regulations. On one hand we have lower Enlisted needing food stamps and community assistance and on the other they are purchasing expensive tattoos. Sorry, I see no positive here.

Sort of on/off of the subject -- I always wondered why Infantry Platoon Leaders weren't Warrant Officers. Does that make sense to anyone else?

Would make sense-majority of warrants have been around the block for a while, and know their stuff. Would make sense to have them as IP Leads.

I have considered it, except that I have already been MEB'd twice.
