Need more information. Were you disqualified, or incomplete pending a psych consult for something disclosed in the physical? If you want to have any chance of becoming qualified, then you need to go to the consult.

I was DQ'd for what the doctors thought was a self inflicted cut, when the week before MEPS I was moving furniture and scratched my left forearm as the piece of furniture was laying on it. They are labeling me as a cutter when I have met people who were cutters and our arms look nothing alike. I have completed MEPS but am being held back from enlisting until I take the psych eval. I went up December 7, 2016

Michael Withem - Disclosure of having a history of"cutting" or any other self-mutilation is a disqualifier. Also, any scarring that is consistent with "cutting" may also draw a psych consult, regardless if denied. However, I have never had anyone with a simple scratch with a valid explanation for it be disqualified or incomplete pending a psych consult. If that is the whole story and the truth, then go do the psych consult. If it is ordered by the MEPS doctor then it is no cost to you. That is the only way to get medically cleared by MEPS to enlist. Even if the MEPS doctor still DQ's you, there is still the possibility of getting a medical waiver approved by the branch of service processing for. Worst case is you get Permanently DQ'ed. But you will never know unless you follow through with the psych consultation.

If it is for something like Adderall you have to be cleared by a doctor and off the prescription for at least a year.

Michael Withem - Then I would recommend going to the doctor and telling your story, in the end you will need a doctor to clear you should not be that big of a deal.

Michael Withem - I'm with the Commander. This really sounds like a non-issue if you just go to the eval. So long as your story here is reality, and I have no reason to think it's not.

LCDR (Join to see) - I have gone to my doctor and I have gotten a letter from him that I gave to the Army liaison, but I have gotten no update of when I can take the eval, so I am trying to see if there is a chance I can skip it just to make the process go faster. If they gave me a date for next week I would go up and take it. It is just that I was to be enlisted already.

Why have you not taken the psych eval? If you were just moving furniture, it should not be a problem. What is the rest of this story?

Michael Withem - You didn't answer his question, though. Why have you not taken the eval? Just do it, and that'll be the end of it.

One scratch, 2 cm. Seems unlikely. No requirement to do the psych consult. No requirement for you to join the military.
