SPC (Join to see), until the MOS grows/changes, there won't be direct civilian enlistment into 25D. The MOS starts at the E6 level (there are no 25D20 or 25D10) and is accessed from current enlisted personnel.
Right now, the concept for Career Field (CF) 17 is mainly focused on OCO and DCO at the national/strategic/operational levels where the Cyber Mission Forces are.
The Signals branch will add an AOC 25G that is focused on Network Operations and Functional Areas 24 and 53 will merge into FA26 (FA24s will merge into AOC 26A (Network Integrations), FA53s will merge into AOC 26B (Enteprise Services) and AOC 26Cs (Cyber Security) will largely be drawn from AOC 25G, AOC 26A and AOC 26B). AOC 26C will be the 'hard core' cybersecurity folks and will focus on the CND type missions at all levels.
There is no discussion that I'm aware of about 25 series enlisted being rolled-up into CF17 or elsewhere.
As always, you can got to the Chief of Signal's site on AKO for the Enlisted Division: https://www.us.army.mil/suite/grouppage/847

Fantastic information, sir.
Thank you for sharing that - helps provide some very clear direction for where this new exciting MOS is headed.

Soo I'm a 91B (mechanic), I saw the milper message saying that 25D is open to any NCO for reclass. I'm a SGT(P) with ALC, 121GT and Top secret with SCI. I saw that some of the requirements ask for IAT LV 2 or IAM. Should I keep building my packet even tho I don't have any IT experience??? Help please, any advise will be great.

So I just got an update from one of my counterparts....He hit me with a little bit more in depth information pertaining to the 25D application/selection process. I will share with the group once I finished getting a thorough understanding of it.

For the Commander's letter of recommendation, does it have to be your current Battalion Commander or can it be from another commander that you served with?

CW2 (Join to see) - It's the current one. It's not a big deal. Mainly the resume is what they are looking at.

I am currently working under IMCOM, under Garrison. We don't have the traditional structure in our unit. We have a detachment commander and then the garrison commander. We do have a LTC Chaplain in our unit. Would their letter suffice?

Sounds like a great deal for Sergeants First Class... Crazy criteria for SSG's though...

So I submitted my packet and received my conditional letter of acceptance about 3 weeks later. I guess I have some insight as I work one floor above the OCOS here at Signal Towers on Fort Gordon. They are the main players in approving 25D Applications. I also went to take the ISST last week and it will take about 10-15 days to get those results back. So hopefully I'll here some good news soon.
But basically the ISST is made up of about 20-30 basic IT questions mainly off of Sec +. And then about 60-80 personality type of questions.
Right now they are screening the packets a little tougher especially on the SFC side. So make sure all of your IT experience is documented at least for the last 5-10 years. Also make sure you LORs are squared away also.

Mine got kicked back in about a week. Didn't get turned down, just to fix a thing or two and resubmit. (They wanted copies of my industry certifications and a higher level letter of recommendation.)

Finally got everything fixed and resubmitted. It's been almost 4 days and I still haven't heard anything yet.

What is the minimum of 4 years IA and IT? So if you haven't worked with IT systems you can't reclass?

I might have to reclassified once I get some more info and guidance from my mentors.

This is still one of the most popular search results for 25D on Google, so I figured I'd share my recent experiences with the MOS.
For starters, the rumors are true. Everything you've heard about 25D's going into COMSEC vaults is true and then some. I just arrived to my new unit (after fighting the assignment for months) only to get stuck in the COMSEC vault with another 25D. (Both of us arrived the same week). Out of my graduating class, except for the two or three who were slated to go to the CPB (I was told I was when I submitted my acceptance letter to HRC, oops), more than half of us are in COMSEC positions.
The regular Army (FORSCOM units, etc) haven't figured out what Cyber means yet, so unless you like the idea of spending months going through some extremely rigorous and valuable training, only to be relegated to filling SKL's and doing paperwork, avoid this MOS like the plague. If you're interested in Cyber in general, focus on the Warrant 170A route, or put in an application for 17C. Avoid this MOS if you actually want to do Cyber.

Be patient, there is a lot going on down at Gordon right now. Generally, give it 2-4 weeks and check back with them. Also, in the meantime, keep working to make yourself more marketable like 8570 certs (CEH, Sec+, N+, CCNA, etc.). If you accomplish one of these or something significant like college, be sure to shoot them an email with an update. This field is growing rapidly and there IS a good deal of competition for these opportunities. Best of luck and hopefully the ISST goes well and you'll make it on the wire :)
