I agree with MAJ Carl Ballinger. Unfortunately, ISIS/ISIL is probably going to continue the beheadings. They are evil. Being an American and in their custody is essentially a death sentence.
My father used to differentiate between folks who went overseas at the behest of the government and those who went there to make money. This fellow falls outside both of those groups. He was on a humanitarian mission. Being a former Ranger, he likely knew the risks.

I can see this causing some serious additional tension in an already tense relation between DoD<->WH. I imagine the Regiment is going to want to do something. He wasn't just tabbed. He was scrolled. I imagine they will be told tough cookies or delayed.
