As long as the encounter is with someone of a like mind. I don't even mind if the discussion is at least with someone who s still looking for themselves or answers. However, I have run into hardliners on here that have frustrated me. While the those who lack compassion are few, when they strike it hurts. Sometimes it hurts worse because we believe they have shared our experiences and still refuse to see what we go through.

CPT (Join to see) you are one of the people that I would hate to see back off. Your posts are always well thought out, balanced, and on point.

Thanks SGT Richard H.! CPT John Hermida I am happy to have thoughtful debate like CW2 Joseph Evans described. I didn't want to call any specific person out because I honestly do believe that the people doing it really think that they are communicating appropriately. However, I do want to give my opinion on the examples you gave. The first on is *absolutely* what I am talking about. The opinion of the poster is in the question. The entire intent of the post was to bash Hillary Clinton, not provide a platform for discussion. On the other hand, the Pro-life, pro-choice thread did create an opportunity for people to discuss opposing opinions. I don't think topics should be shut down just for being controversial. But, I don't enjoy threads that are entirely intended to stump for/against a single viewpoint. At the same time, I don't get to say what stays and goes on RP...other than my own participation.

CPT John Hermida Amen. Unfortunately, I was sucked into one of those. I know better, too. CPT (Join to see) 100% agree. Discussion is what makes this a great site. Zero-sum game approaches to those discussions, however, don't.

Extremely therapeutic. There is a lot that goes on in the mind of a military person or vet that is only understood by the same. This helps fill those gaps for me.

I've had the same experience. I'm very grateful for Rally Point and find myself always on here reading and learning something new.

PO3 Shaun Taylor, I agree that when we learn from each other and embrace the suck it doesn't seem so bad.
