Here is the link to the DoD's web site on the new Blended Retirement System: http://militarypay.defense.gov/BlendedRetirement/
It includes a comparison calculator helping decide whether to opt in to the new system or remain in the current one.

I retired in 2012 so I am under the old system. There used to be calculators that you put your dates of service in and your points and it would give you an estimate. It would be in today's dollars, but it was still a figure you could use as an estiamte. The calculators available now do not seem to apply to my service dates (1988-2012) or to my status as a gray area retiree.

Every site I used to go to redirects to the Army. The Army calculator does not work, however.

Yes, but after getting all the way in, I was still never able to get to a calculator that would work.

I can't figure out why a reserve retirement calculator - something that has been around as long as the internet - suddenly must be behind a secure firewall and only able to be accessed with secret passwords. This should be a public tool availalbe to anyone to use. I should be able to give a link to my financial advisor, spouse, family member, etc. and let them figure out what my pay will be in 2028, or what my survivors anunity will be. These tools have existed for years and now they are behind security and when you get to them they don't work. It's like someone broke tools and then hid them.

I use to just go to Military.com and the calculator was right there! I don't understand their reasoning!
