I see that you are infantry. I assume you have support for this career move from your senior leaders. I would bet that one of two of those senior infantry NCOs may have been in a helicopter at some point, and may know some contacts in aviation.

I would reach out to them to make an introduction. If you feel confident enough yourself, you can head to a hanger yourself and approach one yourself. Another good place to find the warrant officer unicorn is at brigade maintenance bays.

Regardless of where you find one, do not waste their time. You better have your packet spit shined and dress right dressed. Some will read through it and conduct an interview; others may just pull an old LOR out and make changes. But, you should be prepared to be grilled by the Chief.

First question is where are you stationed? Also, unless there's been a change, the LOR can be from any field grade so that includes CW3's.. I've written one myself.
If you have a aviation unit on post I'd start there for a LOR.

Im not in any longer. Im trying to re enlist and go warrant through the reserves, but im located just outside Dallas, and Ft Worth has an aviation unit there. Ive been studying for the SIFT, but as youre aware its a lot of info. Im just trying to figure out what is important, and what they use as just filler crap. Some of the forums ive read are contradicting each other.

To be honest I didn't take the SIFT, it was AFAST for me. Your score is going to be based on the test as a whole and there won't be filler. Also if you find that test hard to study for you're going to struggle with half the day of academics and tests there and the other half of the day at the flight line and getting tested there as well. Develop good study techniques, that work for you, now and flight school will be easier.

Are you Guard or Active component? Have you contacted an Aviation Officer Strength Manager?

I am currently out of the army. I'm trying to enlist into the reserves. No I have not contacted an aviation officer strength manager. What exactly is that?

I can only speak for the National Guard, as I'm going through the process, myself. The strength manager is like a recruiter for warrant officers, and the subject matter expert for what you need to do in order to become a warrant officer and an aviator.
