What are your thoughts on military films and us, members of armed forces? I watch these films and see them actors play these roles as special forces soldiers or whatever and they make all the big $$$$$$ . Do you think that we all should get percentage of the cash they make?

I think that if the military does a film about a specific soldier, then that soldier should be paid for his story and using his/her name.  But, all the producer has to do is change the name and the story line to make it a work of fiction and they get around that requirement.  As for soldiers being paid I have to agree with James and see that as being a paid mercenary which is forbidden by law and the soldier's ethical code.  Money is not an issue for most who serve.  I damn sure did not join up for the $85 net pay I received in my first check from the Army.  I could have made more flippin burgers than what the Army paid me.  It is a desire to serve the country, to give something back and be part of something bigger than yourself.  At least that is how I feel about it.

I feel ya on that William, my 1st paycheck was $176 after taxes, so I was not in for the money that is for sure, I did it out the loyalty and pride in my country, and that is also the reason I stayed for 27 years, I wasn't making what I probably could on the outside all those years, it was my dedication to my country and my family.

Although I have to admit when we were told we couldn't have the "bonus" money offered only to have the Administration accept oil rights and promised incentives, I felt like we were being used as mercenaries, only our corporate boss reaped the benefits from the host country and used and abused us for their benefit then kicked us to the curb within the next few years after Clinton got in the house.

It is a sad state of affairs to have our leadership use us as pawns in their little power games.  I think military service should be a requirement to sit in the oval office.  Clinton never served, W was a reservist, which is fine, but he still did not get a taste of battle and what it is like to face the dangers and stresses like his father did in WWII.  Now this clown in the oval office seems to hate our nation as evidenced by his actions.  He has used the military to enhance his image as he did by taking credit for the bin Laden raid, and then his administration leaks or gives information to Hollywood to make a movie.  I can understand how you felt betrayed by the CIC.  I am afraid that there will be more betrayals in the future.

You know that would never happen, because we are not supposed to profit from what we do as they say, just like after Desert Storm when King Fahd was going to give every SM a $10,000 reward/bonus for helping to remove Saddam from Kuwait and protecting Saudi, but the administration stated we weren't mercenaries so we couldn't have it, but he would gladly accept reparations in the form of oil benefits. Not good enough for us but ok for the nation as a whole.
