Today's article states that the UK is breaking the Armed Forces Covenant that they signed into law 3 yrs ago. (Under the Armed Forces Covenant, enshrined in law by David Cameron three years ago, veterans must receive priority NHS treatment for injuries suffered in the line of duty.) They state that wounded soldiers are subject to a postal lottery to see when or if they will get health care.

So my questions is do you think the health care our wounded veterans receive is better, worse or the same as what teh UK provides theirs.

The bottom line is that wounded veterans are not receiving the complete care they require in the US or from our "cousins" in the UK. I have long thought that our veterans groups, the American Legion, VFW, and the others (IAVA, Marine Corps League, etc...) have fragmented our voices to demand better quality of care, not by design but they serve a specific veteran community. I think an "parent" organization that coordinates the activities of all of the aforementioned veterans organizations would improve the individual efforts of the veterans organizations. All of our veterans organizations are good and serve a specific veteran community, but we need to have the one coordinated voice to drive improvements to veterans benefits/care.

Apparently we do better, despite having more disabled vets.

SGM Coberly - I think this is a case of we are luckier than we thought or it could always be worse.

MAJ Dunn, yes, we Americans tend to think the grass is greener, when we have it pretty good.

The care I have received from the VA has always been top notch. I really believe that it depends on where you live though.

SGT Howell, yes indeed, there are always regional variations, just as there are regional differences in values.
