Let's see how many new laws become effective in 2014
(Note:  For clarity purposes, post one law per response)

In Colorado, 16-year-olds will be able to pre-register to vote, but must still wait until they're 18 to vote.

Kansas is requiring government buildings to allow licensed carriers of handguns unless they actually implement some kind of security screening.

At 8 a.m. New Year's Day, there will be at least 37 stores across Colorado fully licensed and open to sell marijuana to anyone 21 or over for any purpose, according to official lists and Denver Post research.
