I was reviewing the guidelines online and on YouTube and I understand the rest but is the interval run just running back and forth faster and faster? How many intervals do you do to pass and how quick do they have to be? I can't find anything clear on that.

Yes, you just run faster and faster to beat the beep. It's really that simple.

How quick you have to be depends on the rating you're going for. There's four categories...obviously trying to become Infantry requires a higher rating than Human Resources.

SGT Sean Goodrow I think I was thinking it couldn't be that simple and trying to figure out what I might be missing.

It’s really not that bad. I took it last month at drill, the temp of the beeps really doesn’t get that fast until around 5:5 and up. If I had to estimate it’d probably be about a 9-10 second delay. I did 43, due to the fact that they made up stop once everyone met the number that they needed for their MOS. I would have loved to keep going and see how far I could have gotten.

Vivien,

OPAT scoring is divided into four categories: (only listing qualifying shuttle scores)

1: Black (heavy physical demands, complete 43 shuttles to qualify)
2: Gray (significant physical demands, complete 40 shuttles to qualify)
3: Gold (moderate physical demands, 36 shuttles to qualify)
4: White (unqualified)

This youtube video shows it perfectly: http://www.usarec.army.mil/downloads/armypa/opat_testing_instructions.pdf

OPAT scoring information pulled from: https://www.army.mil/article/180199/army_implements_new_fitness_standards_for_recruits_and_mos_transfers

OPAT Testing Instructions: http://www.usarec.army.mil/downloads/armypa/opat_testing_instructions.pdf

Anything newer than these three links I have no way of knowing. Hope this helps and good luck on the OPAT!
