In the past few years an organization has surfaced called the Oath Keepers which is basically a bunch of military and 1st responders who swear to uphold their oath to defend the constitution and will not follow unlawful orders. The SPLC or Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled them as a extremist organization and have given similar designations to other organizations. What are your thoughts on the Oath Keepers organization, the SPLC, and SPLC's designation of law abiding organizations as "extremist"?

I can tell you that the Southern Poverty Law Center is a very Left leaning organization. If you don't believe me go to their web site and check out how many left leaning extremist organizations it has listed as extremist organizations. I can't believe that the Army used to feature the head of the SPLC in some of it's training films etc on gang affiliation in the military. One would think from these films that the SPLC was an unbiased organization formed to help combat hate crime etc. At one time they attempted to have the NRA labeled a extremist organization but the outcry was so loud they had to renege on that attempt.

The SPLC Hate Map is used not only to display hate groups in America but also to defame groups with a different agenda than Southern Poverty Law Center.

I hadn't heard about Oath Keepers, SSG(P) (Join to see), so I looked for some info on the web. Here's a pretty good article: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/10/15/oath-keepers-bring-on-the-collapse.html
The SPLC describes the Oath Keepers as "domestic terrorists waiting to happen." And the Oath Keepers say they only want to preserve our country.
From what I've read, I do understand the extremist argument against Oath Keepers. The ten orders they won't obey (http://oathkeepers.org/oath/2009/03/03/declaration-of-orders-we-will-not-obey/) seem a bit far-fetched to me. I guess I could be naïve, but do we really think that sort of stuff is going to happen? That's mostly a rhetorical question.
I wonder what others on RallyPoint thing about this organization. I'd like to hear more.
