Give the good, the bad, and the MREly.

I'm just curious about what others think about how time in service changes you, right down to what you consider palatable or even plain good eatin'. And we all love to grouse about the bad chow but but let's hear about the good stuff too! Or just the strange and weird.

For myself it was veal. I had never had the stuff before BMT and now I can't get enough of it in the DFAC. What's your poison?

For me it was grits. As an upstate New York boy, I had never eaten grits, but they were plentiful at basic training at Fort Polk, LA. I learned to love 'em.

Creamed beef was new to me when I went to basic. I grew up in Boston and never saw it before. Grits were also new.
