I'm having a hard time understanding this one and SSO is not doing justice.
Was enlisted, TS/SCI. Everything is active. Took on a role in the same organization (USCYBERCOM) as a contractor after I got out, and have been waiting for almost a year for SCI. No one can explain what is taking so long, and the only statement I got when signing on is "we have to submit your creds back through OPM because it is a change of status from active duty to contractor". That's it. Is that really a year+ long process?

Thanks.

A year is a little excessive, but it will depend on the backlog for the Agency that you are going to work in. SCI noms are a part of the game, unfortunately.

Thanks Senior Chief, I guess the backlog for USCYBERCOM is huge...

Unfortunately it does. Due to the OPM data breach from several years ago, we are all still feeling the pain of this incident. I've seen a number of cases that took longer than this. It's tricky when you leave AD and go to the contractor world as you are also talking about two different clearance processes that end with the same result.

Thanks for the reply SFC. Good to know I'm not out of the norm.
