So my question is this..... Will being a Recruiter in your Military career in the Army really help with career progression? I was selected for this duty and I am at my tail end of my Involuntary extension or Detailed Recruiting duty, in which I have been very successful on this duty assignment. I had the opportunity to convert to 79R, but I came to my realization that, that is not something that I want to do as far as the rest of my career. Anyone on this "rally point" that is prior servers or of higher rank answer this question? I can ask higher leadership and they all say of course, but I want to know from outside the box.... ??????

From outside the box. Your recruiting duty (successful) is a career enhancer. If your record prior, and your record post are exemplary then it will carry greater weight than the average NCO’s in your CMF. Thank you for your service.

I can't remember where I read it, but apparently Recruiter/Drill Sergeant duty ups your chances of making SFC by like 30 or 40 percent more than somebody who hasn't done the duty. And then like 17 or 18 percent more chance of making E8.

Yeah, man. Good luck. I tried to get Drill Sergeant but wasn't fast enough and was sent to Fort Hood, haha. I have two buddies who were recruiters and one who was a Drill Sergeant and all three made E-7. Doesn't mean you don't have to work hard, though. Give it your all and try your best.

I surmis tha The Army has their way of assigning special duties as recruiter and seen s’thing in you
To assign you to it. I believe it is a total volunteer
Sit-rep in the AF .. that I would have really went into full-speed if sent into it. So you do your best job at Recruiting and make them proud they selected the right person for the job and it would certainly benefit you when going for the next upgrade in Rank, SSGT. Benjamin B.
