Generally as long as you are not getting a federal or state job then there shouldn't be an issue. Most civilians don't know what a DD214 is or understand how to read it so unless they ask why/how you were discharged I don't see it coming up. As for unemployment, if I did my homework correct, you don't qualify for it as it only pertains to honorably discharged service members.

There is a difference between the 2 discharge, yes you can still get the Veteran preference points, but that doesn't help if they don't hire you. I don't know where Eric lives, but they did a background check when they hired me for the Post Office. And then Jewelry TV did a background check when they hired me during the 3rd career. I had to have a long talk with my Department upon getting to the hire point, who was a retired 1SG- you won't pull the wool over those eyes with your phony crap- which will get fired they minute they find out you lied/falsified documents.

Most Federal/state government jobs require an honorable discharge, same for most other government jobs. Those companies that require background checks may also balk at hiring. If you are forced out (OTH, etc., ) you may not qualify for unemployment- just like not getting it if you are fired from a job.

As for what types of jobs can you get. I defy you to find a private company that even looks at it unless it's a defense contractor, has a clearance process (like a school district), or a federal/state entity.
