Why does it take so long for a National Guard soldier to get his NGB22?

I asked my readiness NCO to expedite it for me. He said he'll do it but then I found out he retired. I mean they should know my ETS date the same day I signed my contract. Why is it taking so long?

I would be making phone calls to higher if I was in your position. Your NGB-22 is important and something that you should not be waiting on for long. Have you spoken with the new readiness NCO about it? If not, I would start there. Tell what your situation is and give him/her a chance to resolve it. If no resolution is found there, contact BN HQ and talk to the S-2 there. Keep going higher until you get th problem solved.

Thanks for the response. I talked to the new readiness NCO and he said I was out of the system. I didn't know what he meant by that so I figured he misunderstood. I'll call him tomorrow and clarify. I'll also look up the info for the S1, thanks again.

Being out of the system means that you have been dropped from the unit inventory because you are no longer a member of the national guard in your state. That’s done because there is a finite number of personnel slots available for any unit and they had to open up the slot you filled to replace you other another soldier. If the unit readiness NCO doesn’t have you in the system, I think you’ll most likely need to go higher up the food chain to resolve your issue. BTW, if you don’t mind my asking, how long have you been out of service?
