Combat Tankers Badge

Eligibility Requirements:

(1) An individual must be an armored officer of enlisted man, or a warrant officer with an Armor MOS who, subsequent to 6 December 1941, has satisfactorily performed duty while assigned or attached as a member of an armored unit of regimental or smaller size during any period such unit was engaged in active ground combat. Awards of this badge will not be made to the members of headquarters companies of units larger in size than regiments. Battle participation credit alone is not sufficient; the unit must have been in active ground combat with the enemy during the period.

(2) Any officer whose basic branch is other than armor who, under appropriate orders, has commanded an armored unit of regimental of smaller size for at least 30 consecutive days is deemed to have been detailed in Armor and is eligible for the award of 'Combat Tankers Badge,' not withstanding absence of written orders detailing him in Armor, provided all other requirements for such award have been met. …

I think the CAB was the best idea. The way the global war on terror changed conventional warfare and the need for troops to do a job that usually the 11B’s do is spot on.

So make a badge just for 19 series? I dont see the point, but then again I don't see the point in a lot of badges that are out there now or the way people get approved for them.
How many 19 Series are in the Army now across the 3 main compos?
The CAB is there, but I hate the fact for you guys that it was watered down so much so quickly.
Perhaps I could cheer for the badge when we take on a near peer and most tankers are back in tanks. Those guys in WWII could probably stand to get a "tankers badge", but generally my thoughts are we're to merit badge happy these days, wanting to display our whole ERB on our chest... Next the UAV guy will want a combat ID badge for flying UAVs a 1000 miles away from the target. Lets just train, cross train, and get after what's important. Leave that stuff for the, hopefully, once or twice a year Class A's formal stuff.
Lets do it like the CIA... if I go take the danger jobs and live in shit... pay me more.
