Right now my bosses are trying to interview potential new employees for our dispatch center.

10 point veterans are guarenteed an interview yet are not even bothering to show up. Is anyone aware of a program that just requires veterans to apply for work kind of like unemployment? This is a great job and it is a shame that veterans are blowing it off.

I often wonder the same thing. I could almost see not applying, but to blow off an interview if they are unemployed makes my head explode. Makes me wonder what underlying issues they might have that would need to be addressed.

Do you work for your state's government? If so, your Dept of Labor should have positions like mine that might be able to put you in touch with their veteran population. The person to look for should have the title of LVER (local veterans employment representative). While they may not be able to "require" someone apply for a certain job, they may be able to help you find motivated candidates.
