I have a question for anybody here who may recognize things in these photos. They were taken by my Grandfather during WW2. My mother tells me he was a paratrooper but the photos seem to point to him being air crew on one of these planes. He sure appears to be wearing air crew gear rather than paratrooper battle rattle. I'm interested to know what model the aircraft in flight is. Any help is appreciated!
Of course I plan on getting his service records as soon as possible but thought I'd see what RO thinks. Thanks.

Flabbergasted Fanny appears to be a B-24 as well given the probe location and cockpit.

Just as a possibility, I would contact the Air Force museum on Wright Patterson AFB. They had a B 24 on display. They may be able to trace the plane through photos of the nose art. His outfit is definitely flight gear and him being laden with 50 cal rounds could point to him being a gunner. If you have any more pictures of the aircraft that show the numbers located on the tail could also aid in your search. Good luck to you.

Thanks! I will follow up on that idea. My brother and I agree with your thoughts on his uniform.
