Should drill sergeants stay with a soldier through basic and ait?

Heard someone talking about this today. I say no only because if a soldier was a bad apple in basic that ait gives that soldier a fresh start

OSUT hadn't been anyone's bright idea at the time, but the flipside of that is if a DS is worth his salt, he/she will be able to turn a person into a productive soldier.

If the soldier is a fuck up, maybe the Army isn't for them. Trainees come in with different maturity levels and experiences and it's the DSGT's job to break everyone done and build them into the best soldier they can be.
