What housing areas near Fort Stewart have low rent prices?

There’s ample low cost apartments in close proximity to Stewart, but the neighborhoods are.... less than desirable. If you have reliable transportation, look at Ludowici. It’s a 20-30 minutes drive but less crime than the local neighborhoods. Richmond hill is nice, but a pretty significant drive.

There’s a nice gated apartment complex out of gate 7, close to ranger joes, and rents around 7-800

Remember you get what you pay for and cheap is not always a safe neighborhood.
