That's really interesting, as I'd wanted to go that way before my total perm disability, if I'd known it existed, I'd have ginenwith them to start, I assure you...elaborate on assocs? Bach? Masters? PhD? Specific field interested in? Clinical? Engineering? Health info mgmt? Have you called their toll free recruiting line, [login to see] at all? Have you submitted a packet? Did you want their Jr or Sr COSTEP, their analogue to ROTC? If you could get in with them, where would you want to be assigned? What field or range of fields? Do a detailed biomsketch, incl hobbies, reading interests, research interests, papers if any, I never got to publish, I was doctoral allied health before my total perm disability, we shut my license sevl yes ago. Look at USCG Aux medical service program, they let civilian clinicians volunteer with USCG, I gather alongside USPHS...I trained under a USPHS O-6 in my field while in my doctoral program, I researched it quite thoroughly, the more you relate, the more I might suggest...you could possibly seek a waiver and ask it to be reviewed by their review board for such cases, I'd expect, obv, it'd depend on your clinical circumstances, certainly, which, of course, I obv can help you with, however, believe me, I wanted to do exactly what you seek to do, so, trust me, you've got a more than sympathetic ear, I assure you, if you'd care to chat further, OK?

I didn't think to look up a recruiter, I actually just remembered that PHS existed last night when I was filling out paperwork for my upcoming VR&E appointment. I'm planning on going back to school with CH. 31 for either Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, or Forensics, so I'd go for their engineering, science, or nursing fields (though I think science positions require a Ph.D).

I follow, look also at health info mgmt...the USUHS, not USPHS, the svc med school, aside from its MD, also now has a grad school of nursing (HSN), and PhD programs in biosciences, incl coin psychology...I only mention it, as the PhD program can I'd read often he done by civilians, seeking to go civil svc, there's an incurred civil svc term involved, or I'd expect you'd have to give the money back, maybe prorated if you don't stay the whole time, however, understand, that's separate from how active duty would be handled...active duty warrant and/or commissioned, incl USPHS, can apply to compete for USUHS, understand I'm using two different acronyms, OK? Trust me, call the USPHS recruiter toll free line as I'd said and speak with them, there's also an HHS directory page, listing all HHS phones, it's publicly searchable, it can let one call specific offices, if one can find a name involved with an aspect of USPHS you'd have interest in chatting with, I've found it quite useful, as USPHS falls under HHS, also, you can, as I'm sure you've seen not necessarily have to go with a SVC under PHS, even though they have cooperative stuff with the svcsz mainly for psych related clinical, so, if you went psych nursing, you could try for assignment to Army, Navy, USAF, as you'd likely seen they also assign mult fields to USCG, though USXG uses its own PAs, not those of USPHS, they use the rest, MD (allopath), DO (osteopath), RN, dentists, allied health...I did read of a USPHS engr going with Army also, I'll try to send more soon, elaborate on your specific courses thus far ifmyiu can, actual course titles,if you haven't get, also, GPA, grades, STEM coursework thus far, assocs, Bach, grad level, as well, OK?

And I know you'd possibly want direct commission...you might not know, USPHS by law I'd read is allowed warrants, they've just never used them, I'd learned, however, they are allowed, of read, under law, I'd rear material on whether paramedics, e.g., ought to be considered to be USPHS warrantable, just food for thought, I didn't know if you'd known about that...also, look up the OCAUSPHS, the USPHS Commissioned Officers Assoc, they have chapters all over the US, I'm quite sure you could find local USPHS active duty near you to chat with, if you want to chat more, I'm here, honest, OK?
