I can tell you about GTMO as of 2010 anyhow. Perhaps much has changed.
Limited activity, but a great MWR budget there. Outdoor movie theater, lots of beaches, cheap boat rentals and a gold course that is full of dirt and gravel traps. Dont take your expensive clubs haha.
Be ready for broadband internet that runs like its 1999. You will also learn the phrase "on the barge."

I’m there just doing inspections in the facility and making sure it’s up to health code. Just want to make sure I’m not dealing with the prison

If you are there for inspections in general, you may very well be inside the camp area as there is a lot there.
I doubt you'll have any direct contact with any detainees. Being inside the wire there isn't all that bad, especially if you are not direct contact. Just be ready for 2 things, being heckled a bit (ignore it 100%) and the smell.
