Some work with nonprofit organizations, some in Veterans organizations such as the VFW / American Legion, some work with / through the VA to help homeless Veterans, etc. What do you think is a good way to give a "hand UP" to our brothers and sisters-in-arms when they need a helping hand?

I enjoy seeing veterans and service members in my clinical social work practice, where I offer individual therapy and case management.

Thank you LTC Andrew Deaton and SPC Leisel Luman for your kind words and Christmas greetings. I struggled when I left the army. It was a bit of a rocky path for a while. You and our fellow warriors inspire me to do what I already enjoy doing, helping people down their life path. May you and your families find hope, peace and light in this darkest time of year.

Merry Christmas SPC Leisel Lumen. Our brothers and sister service members are watching out for you and your dog, so you can both have a great Christmas. No guilt is required. Your life is worthy of their sacrifice. Make every moment count. =)

Very thankful for the protective bubble I live in and I value the sacrifices the were made to keep it this way. Unfortunately most citizens have no idea what we are protected from any who we have to thank. Merry Christmas and thank you to all.

I volunteered with our local Red Cross emergency response unit and our local food bank. We are very rural and do have a VFW, but I haven't volunteered for anything with them (I have not been involved with them since moving back home). But I have been working with other Veterans organizations to get Veterans services in our area. A mentoring program, trabsportation to VA apppointments, referrals, and a just a basic information point. Our county doesn't even have a Walmart. Or anything really commercial for that matter. But we have a Starbucks.

I volunteer for Warriors Watch Riders which is a service support group that gives motorcycle escorts to deploying and returning servicemen. It seems like a small thing but it has a big impact.

Jonathan, sounds like good stuff! Do you have a web site or other location where people can find out more about Warriors Watch Riders?

COL (Join to see) yes sir!

Main site: http://www.warriorswatch.org

Toward the top left side you can find a link for current rides/escorts. I will warn you...once you try this and see the impact of greeting a returning servicemen with a flag line, then provide them with a motorcycle escort to their home it is addicting! You have been warned! ;)
