I am at reception at fort Jackson right now and I think I may have strep throat. My only worry is it delaying me or possibly even getting me sent home.

Personally - I would like to know if there was something wrong BEFORE starting a job with physically intense requirements. My MEPS group (I had attended delayed entry but returned to 'final in-process' so I was given everyone's packets to carry from Montgomery AL to Ft Knox Reception) lost around 10% The next day most rejoined us and we all started Basic together.
Two guys joined my squad. One had the clap and the other needed emergency tooth extraction. Both would have suffered pretty bad if their problems hadn't been caught.
So don't sweat it.

It depends on what the diagnosis is- play it safe, better to maybe lose a couple of days, than have it get worse and be down for longer.
