Granted obviously they go on active duty if they pass sfas and what would happen if they didn’t pass?

There are NG SF units... I'm sure you might be able to find some type of reserve component.

They most certainly can.

And to address your second question, if they do not get selected (SFAS is not a pass/fail course), they will be sent back to their unit. Plain and simple. If they do pass, they either transition to Active Duty, or to the National Guard (Florida, I believe). Regardless, you'll be put on Active status for the SFQC.

But why do you feel that it is not in the cards for you? You do know that you can attend SFAS more than once, correct? And if you do get Selected, your Reserve unit cannot stop you from continuing on the path, as SOCOM orders are not superseded by any other. So why are you giving up now? If you want to be on an ODA and be a part of that amazing family of highly selected, expertly trained, hard-charging warfighters, then you'll do whatever it takes to do it. Giving up only says you don't have what it takes to begin with.

Giving up wasn’t really part of this as this was a noncommittal question . I just wanted to know if it is possible for reserves to even do. If you are saying it is then it is still in the open.
