After finishing AIT, can I attend Airborne/RASP from my first duty station?

I am a 68w in my last 3 days of AIT. My company wasn’t allowed any RASP slots so i dropped my own packet. Problem is i was not able to schedule my last 1/2 of the physical until the day i graduate. My drill SGT. said the worst case i will show up to my duty station in Ft. Irwin and they will send me to Airborne/RASP from there. Is this typically the case? I have heard once you’re out of AIT it’s extremely difficult to get sent there. That you’d have to be at your duty station for a set time and compete for slots there.

I went as a sergeant E-5 my commander was thrilled and said follow your dreams. I called Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning Georgia I did a 4187 and was on my way to Airborne School and Rip. Then 1/75 RB in Savannah Georgia. Just don't give up.

It's not difficult it just takes time and a little work. Problem is everyone is gung-ho out of AIT and after a year at work they lose that drive.
