Does anyone have any useful insight to the M-SLC conducted by the Minnesota NG at Camp Ripley?

Just got my ATRRS reservation for the course there in January of 2019, just looking for any useful info outside of the general course scope.

You don’t need ASUs. Land nav is a beast, attack your points from the road. You can’t head straight through the brush from point A to B. If you do that you’ll be fine.

SSG (Join to see) MNARNG here. Land nav course is a bitch, but it's self correcting. The terrain is just hell.

I believe it is a compressed course so you should have longer class days and have class 6 days a week. Brainerd is really nice small city. If you fish, and have the time, there are tons of lakes in the immediate area. As far as the course, it's an Army school, they are taught at the middle school level.

17 of 48 just failed first attempt of Land Nav. Attack your points, DO NOT from from A to B.
