What can I do to increase my chances of getting my waiver for HSV-1 (chronic cold sores once a year or less, manageable with medicine) approved? It's going through BUMED.
I hate to put the future of my life in the hands of others but it's what's necessary if I want to lead an honest and full career in the armed forces. What can I do if anything (Marine Corps DEP) to increase my chances of getting this waiver approved? All I want to do is serve, it'd be hard to get past if they turn me away saying I'm not good enough.

What field do you want? Have you thought about other svcs? You've gotta understand, I see this constantly on here, focusing on one svc only...you've gotta try to be more flexible tan that...are you in school? Assocs? Bach? Major? Grades? GPA? Interests? Hobbies? Reading? Sports? !aerial arts? Elaborate, OK? Help us try to help you by telling us more.,.that being said, candidly, I don't know what other svcs would do, quite honestly, it'd likely need to be similarly reviewed, I'm merely suggesting you broaden our thought processes, honest...I gather you want USMC, I get that...however, it:s not what you want, it's who wants you...civilian work types at all, so far as yud care to say? Would you want to try for scare fields where you might justify a waiver, if you've gt skills? That's why knowing more helps, otd give us all more to work with, honest...so, try to take the time and give is more, as I'd said, OK? If you want to chat, just ask, OK?

I want to be an Intelligence Specialist and work in the field. Reason being if for whatever reason I don't pursue my career in the SOF community (it's possible I could change my mind or not qualify) I'd want a job in the private security sector, perhaps even my own business.

OK...I get it...now...grades? GPA? Specific coursework thus far? All those other goodies that'd help us try to help you, so far as you think you can go into? Normally, less is more...here, more is very definitely more...so, more facts, while I cogitate about what you'd related thus far, OK (I've gotta give it some thought, honest)? And, also, would you consider other svcs, if they were at all possible? Give us more about school, a whole lot more...it'd help us all to be able to try to suggest various possibilities for you, honest, OK?

It's normal to stress about these things in your position, but remember what they're really concerned about. They need to know whether you have a condition that would negatively impact your job. It doesn't sound like that's the case, but that's why they want information from your doctor. These things can also be slow, so don't let that unsettle you. Keep preparing yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually for the path ahead.

Once the medical board has seen the paper work from your doctor, you should be ok to go, double check with your recruiter.
