So apparently stupidity on social media is not limited to the Western world...

Taliban leader on LinkedIn!.
- Is anyone surprised that terrorists are leveraging social media, in some cases to significant positive effect for them?
- Most of the comments thus far portray the Taliban leader as stupid. I disagree with this assessment. Ask yourself the following questions: what is he trying to do? Who is he trying to target? What effect is he having? What risk is he placing himself in? We underestimate our enemy when our start position for analysis is that our enemy is stupid.
- The more important analysis stems from the above questions. Is the purpose advertisement, recruitment, funding, intellectual engagement, all the above, or something else? Is the targeted population local (unlikely), regional, and/or strategic? You get the idea for the other questions.
- Bottom line. Do not look at this report through your own eyes. Look at it from our enemy's point of view and my bet is that this makes perfect sense and is having an effect that exceeds any negative costs.

COL Jason Smallfield, PMP, CFM, CM, I agree completely. I did a thesis on this topic and I believe he as greater reward than risk. I also read a great book that looks at the strategy of al Qaeda by using the analogy of a 3 dimensional chess board. This book is called the white king and the doctor by Lee Kessler.

Makes me wonder if we have any undercover operatives on RP...although he came right out and listed his job...idiot. Hopefully that makes him easier to catch.

Why do they allow unverified members to have more than a profile? Maybe we should boycott unverified members...and they will get the hint to finish their profile.
