Can someone leaving Army active duty and going into the reserves change their mind and re-enlist active duty? Or is that reserves contract set in stone? I assumed active would overrule reserve contract.

Once you are in a reserve contract and the start date has already started good luck lol. You will need a DA 368 signed by your first General Officer. So no an active wouldn't just over rule a reserve contract. I would suggest if you want to stay active don't go reserve unless you have been accepted into the AGR program. Stay active if that is what you truly want to do. Because going back especially at a higher rank is a big pain in the azz. I been dealing with it all year since leaving Active duty again last December.

That contract can be canceled up until the day after you ETS. I've done several reenlistments like this

A tough one. I went National Guard until I was physically fit again (1970s). I simply told my commander. Maybe its different now but I was fine. Ask the recruiter/ReUp NCO
