How does the married army couples program work? If your spouse is stationed somewhere, can you guarantee you get stationed there as well?

Can anyone provide details on the married army couples program? My partner and I are both in ROTC right now. He'll graduate May 2019, while I'll finish May 2021. He's submitted his packet and won't know anymore information on what branch, unit, or job he'll receive until after he finishes advanced camp summer 2019. He's leaning towards engineer and signal and hopes to be placed in Washington. I have not submitted a packet yet, but am leaning towards human resources and quartermaster. How difficult is it to be stationed with your future spouse? Is it easier once you are married? Thanks.

MACP guarantees your branch will attempt to station you together. You have to enroll in MACP first, even if you're married but not enrolled, your branches won't consider MACP. On top of that, you need to be enrolled prior to getting your assignments or else you may have to spend several years apart prior to get stationed together at a later date. Basically, MACP affects your future assignment consideration and has very little effect on your current one. In addition, there are still movement rules and career considerations such as KD time that will affect when you can move as well.

I can tell you the Military doesn't look as a future spouse. You are either Single, Married, or Divorced in the military's eyes nothing else. Once you are married yes there are program for Dual military to get stationed close together but it is never guaranteed. But having an MOS that is basically everywhere like Human Resources/Administration chances are even better of getting stationed together or within a close proximity.
