Hello,
I’m interested in Army Reserve. I am a Permanent Resident, and graduating with Masters of Healthcare Administration (3.7 GPA) in December 2018.
I want to know:
1. Can I be a Direct Commissioned officer as PR in Reserve ? I know you can’t in active duty.
2. Do I need to take ASVAB or there is different test or there is a direct training school?

Im interested in going in Healthcare Administration field.

Thanks in advance.

You can't direct commission unless you are a Naturalized Citizen or are a born citizen. To be an officer in any branch you need to be a citizen. You won't be able to apply until you naturalize in your case.

You can ask the recruiter to see if they will do enlistment to officer programs that will speed up your naturalization if you are not within the parameters to apply for your citizenship.

For number 2 .. you don't need asvab for direct commissioning.

You can go active duty as a Health Care administrator it is an option but its harder to get in.

Gurpreet Singh - I believe Lt. Mertins is saying that, since you have not been naturalized yet, you would have to go enlisted first. from there, you might be able to get into an officer program. I seriously doubt that you would be able to be any higher that O3, probably no higher than O2. I don't think Health Care Admin is a high demand career field.

SrA John Monette correct.. if he is not near the time required as a Permanent resident he can enlist first and then look at direct commissioning all of this while building time.
As 70 series aoc you won't commission higher than a 2LT

Your best bet is to pursue OCS (Officer Candidate School) after your citizenship is squared-away. The AMEDD doesn’t direct commission 70Bs “off of the street”; that is, 70Bs May direct commission from enlisted ranks. Despite your advanced degree 70Bs are not granted constructive service credit to commission higher than a 2LT. Gurpreet Singh

I would talk to a recruiter, or contact a local unit, most have a retention NCO who can answer most of that. It would also depend on what units have in the way of MOS's and slots. I know a SSG that was 50 who went direct commission in a medical unit in North Carolina but he was already in the reserves.
