2LT (Join to see) AD branch transfers are either immediately following accession or at the three year mark. The reserve components are more fluid, in general terms. The process at the three year mark is the gaining and losing branch has to agree. If either branch says no, you don't go. It starts with a branch manager conversation. The post accessions process is different.

looking at your profile, you are two years in and haven't done BOLC?

Thanks for the comment sir. I just got my commission on August 4th. I’ve been thru couples drills with my Engineer unit but I work in the construction industry in my civilian job and would like to gain some knowledge in signal since I’m very interested in the subject as well.

2LT (Join to see) - did you miss the post accessions deadline for branch transfer? That process has different business rules. PMS channels can guide you. But I'm guessing you are through the looking glass at this point

Yes, it is absolutely possible! I’m actually going through the process of transferring from MI to SC right now.
What you would need to do is send these following documents to your reserve branch manager;
- College transcripts
- Signed memo from your unit commander
- Written letter stating why you want to transfer
- Find a unit with a vacancy that’s willing to take you (The most important part)

Let me know if this helps!!

It helped a lot!! I’ll jump on that!! In the 4th item, does it have to be a signal unit or different units also need a signal Officer?

Any unit that has a slot available for an 0-1 signal officer. But it’s best to look for a signal unit, that way you have the chance to have a platoon and get PL time. 2LT (Join to see)

My initial thought would be to talk to the Reserve branch manager...
