Taking into consideration that the command team SOP can come into play.
I'm trying to find any Information on AR's for non- training units, on how frequently, Mandatory APFT can/should be given.
For example: I had taken a record Pt test back in February more toward the end of the month, the command team in pushed out information that they wanted updated pt test from everyone if they have not taken a pt test as current as the month of march.
So in April we held another mandatory record APFT on the 1st, I had taken it again and passed, again.
October comes up and they say they want another mandatory APFT, which in retrospect, probably seems reasonable giving that it has been a 6 month time frame.
tho when i go online to view my APFT records I have over 150 day till my APFT expires.
it is hard to find a stright answer when there are so many counter.
I have been told they only need to be given once a year.
can someone please help with clarification?

SPC (Join to see) read for yourself in AR350-1. The FM7-22 governs how it's administered. You will find a Commander may administer an APFT as often as they wish. AR600-9 governs the ABCP.

You can give an APFT whenever you want, but doesn't the AR state that there has to be 120 days between Record APFT's?

CPT Lawrence Cable - yes, but doesn't change the fact that you'll get an APFT and height/weight done just the same.

LTC Jason Mackay - yes, they can give you an APFT every day if they wish, it just can't be "for record"...

LTC (Join to see) - true, but all weighs and tapes are for record...so that can derail some people.

Good question- bottom line for my old units min 6 mo for record, but we took them up to 4mo apart As long as they announce it prior to the date

AR 350-1: every 6 months for AD and AGR, annually for USAR and ARNG.

Good afternoon SPC Samantha J. The answer to your question is below. Commanders can give the APFT as many times as they want, but you are only required to take and pass 2 APFT test a year. Only Army Reserves and National Guard are required to take APFT annually.

Look in AR 350-1

Section II : other army training programs
and selected personnel mandatory requirements

F5: physical readiness training program

k. Soldiers must take a record APFT every 6 months for RA and AGR Soldiers, and annually for all other USAR and
ARNG Soldiers. If a Soldier fails a record APFT, commanders may allow Soldiers to retake the test as soon as the Soldier
and commander feel the Soldier is ready to test (not to exceed 90 days).

You are welcome SPC Samantha. Just remember everything in the army is covered by some type of regulation, don't go by hear say and take as a grain of salt; just have to dig and search until you find the answers you seek. You will be a NCO in the future and you will have Soldiers that will depend on you to guide them in the right direction.
