So I’m an E-1 and I looked today and saw that I’m only getting 565 a paycheck instead of my full amount. I don’t have any allotments or anything of the sort coming out. So I’m curious as to why I’m seemingly being shorted.

You still pay Federal and State Income Taxes, if your home state has one, plus Social Security and Medicaid Tax. Just a quick calculation says your total Federal Tax burden is about $403 a month at your income level. Then deduct SGLI and State taxes, that sounds about right for 1/2 months pay.

Sounds like you're still in Basic training. During basic training, all services receive a reduced pay. E1 is about 1680 a month, meaning 840 every pay. Take away taxes state and federal taxes plus SGLI, and that's about 560.

Talk to your team leader about turning in a pay inquiry and les to your S1 to figure it out if your leadership doesnt know.
